Lawrence Osgood is a novelist, playwright, essayist, raconteur and Arctic traveler who now makes his home in Germantown, New York. Midnight Sun, his first novel, was published in 2005.
Fiction by Lawrence Osgood has appeared in the London Magazine, Canadian Fiction Magazine, The Carleton Miscellany, Pleiades, Potpouri, and the St. Martin’s Press Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror. His plays have been published in New Theatre in America, New American Plays, Apuntes (Chile) and been produced Off Broadway, in regional US theaters, in South America and on CBC radio. He has received writing and research grants from the Canada Council, has been an assistant professor of dramatic arts at the University of Connecticut as well as a member of the playwrights committee at the Actors Studio, and has directed plays in Los Angeles, New York, and New England. He has explored Arctic rivers by kayak, making several first descents, and lived and worked with the Canadian Inuit, directing a native language revitalization project and producing Inuit children’s TV programs. Mr. Osgood holds dual Canadian/US citizenship.
